There were several VdGG-related surprises in 2015, but one of the most important for our society was the discovery of the recording of an episode of Play Away British TV children’s program featuring Peter Hammill. He performed ‘Tintagel by the Sea’ – a song specially recorded for that show. This song was then unavailable and existed only on bootleg releases as a low-fi audio track.

Seeing it revived after more than 35 years was so inspiring that it was decided to embellish our Tribute album with our own Club version.

Levon Hakhverdyan and I recorded a demo version on the 7th and 11th of October 2015, and by December Sbarticus Teknik in UK added keyboards and prepared the final mix (demo-version appeared as a bonus track on my own tribute album in July 2016).

There's a castle called Tintagel by the sea.
And it's part of King Arthur's history.
Merlin the magician used to live here in the caves.
Practising his spells and contemplating the waves.

One night on the beach he had a shock.

His magic told him he'd be king and not just any knave.
He called the baby Arthur and taught him to be true, strong and brave.

Because King Arthur would always fight for right.

His sword was called Excalibur and it could never break.
But he got tired of fighting so he threw it in a lake.
When a hand came up and caught it, he knew that he'd made a mistake.

He had one more battle to fight against the knights who were so cruel.
He won that and all the vassals said he was the best king who ever ruled.
(The best king who ever ruled)

If you come to Tintagel now, there aren't really any knights.
But there are lots of jolly people and the castle's very nice.

But now the time came for Arthur to sail away.
In a boat disappearing across the bay.
But if the realm meets disaster King Arthur will come back again.

Self-trained playing piano, guitar and later - bass, which allowed me playing and making a few recordings with various bands in Yerevan.
In 2014, joined a special project dedicated to the music of Peter Hammill and Van der Graaf Generator, which brought me back to studio work. Having released yet another successful solo tribute, started producing my own music.
